...Blog Wars? ...

Having a Blogger account and having a Tumblr account isn't "bad" is it? Do they contradict themselves or something? Or am I okay with what I do? The questions that fill my blogger/blogging mind.
Remember this beauties: "Why can't we be friends..."

P.S. My next assignment is still in progress! Patience my dear friends. Patience! :)

P.P.S. Patience is a virtue.

A Little Feedback Is Always Good For The Blogger Soul

Today I commented on a few blogs. It is always good to get a little feedback or a comment here and there from someone. I know that it always makes me feel a lot better, so I'm taking a wild guess and saying that it also makes the other person feel good too. Plus, by commenting on other peoples blogs, I get points in class! ...minor importance of course... ;)
I wish the best to all blogs, including mines haha :)

Stay Alive People.

Magazine Cover Reflection (for school)

Magazine Cover Design Reflection

The purpose of this assignment was to make a magazine cover. I chose to do People Magazine. Before we could even start working on our cover’s we were suppose to learn how to use the many tools on the Apple computers. After we finally established the basics, we moved on to completing a worksheet. The purpose of the worksheet, though very simple, was to help us gain more understanding and ideas for our magazine. For example things like ideas for your headings, why you are on the cover of the magazine, what are you trying to portray to your audience, and over all, a couple of sketches to show how you want your magazine to look. We then moved on to finding a realistic title for the magazine. For example, some people chose: People magazine, Parents, Time, Sports Illustrated, ESPN, etc. After figuring and finishing that part of the assignment, we were to take a picture of ourselves to finally add to our magazine. Once we had gathered all of the above things that we were going to need and use, we were finally able to start working on our magazine cover.
My Magazine cover looks like a People Magazine. It has headings, pictures of other artists, and a picture of myself in the center wearing a gray dress and black boots, with a red-carpet background. There is also a barcode on the right hand corner. Some of the headlines are: 10 Easy Ways To Be A Successful Woman; Ordinary Life, Extraordinary People; and Taking Short Snap Shots Of the World, One Picture At A Time. There is also a close up picture of someone holding a camera on the left hand corner.
Through my magazine, I was trying to communicate the fact that a woman or any person in general can become very successful and succeed in multiple careers. In my magazine, it was being a photographer, a singer, and actor. I had a very casual “hands on your hips” pose and a smile. In the background I had a red carpet, emphasizing the part about being a famous actress. The camera in the corner showed my interests in photography. I also had a picture of Ariana Grande in the right hand corner to show interests in music. Over all, I was trying to show that a person can be very successful in different areas that they are interested in.
Looking at my rubric, I feel like my finished artwork was successful. When I came to class, I was always focused and ready to start working on my project. I also feel like I selected interesting images that illustrate the purpose of my magazine. When designing my magazine, I used a variety of tools form the toolbar to add extra details and edit parts of my magazine. Over all, I think I did a pretty good job on my magazine cover and filled all the requirements I needed in order to successfully complete my magazine.

The First Assignment Is Done!

I have finally finished my first assignment of making a magazine cover. I am so happy and can't wait to post it up here so everyone can see it. I personally think it looks really cool and not only because I was the one who did it. This project took me a lot of time to put together; mainly because I am not the best at all this technology and computer stuff. Especially since the computers' we were working on were Mac's, and those can be pretty confusing to understand when all you've known and worked with were PC's. I never thought I would be able to create something like this. I thought it was impossible for me. Apparently not :) Finally completing this assignment only gets me more excited to see what else I will be creating. And so, I can't wait to post my other art and reflections and what not. But for now, I'll just blog about it (Haha get it? Did that make you laugh? Was it even funny?).
Until my next post, SMILE! =)

What Post Numero Uno Was Suppose To Be...

Like I previously mentioned before, my first assignment regarding my blog, was to create a post telling everybody about who I am. I was only able to accomplish my name, school, and place. I would say that was enough, but I doubt that would give me a passing grade. I like gettings A's on everything that I do, but I know that requires my best effort; and once again, I am getting off the main topic.
As you can probably already tell, my mind likes to wander. I constantly have new thoughts in my head; I'm always thinking. But I'm trying to stay focus here.
Hmmm, what can I tell you? I like to think that I am just a seventeen year old wallflower. Not a bad thing necessarily. I suggest you read the book, "the perks of being a wallflower", by Stephen Chbosky, in order to understand what I am trying to say.
Next. I guess you can say that I am a poet. I'm always writing and thinking of new ideas for poems. I really like the idea of creating pictures and feelings in other human being's. The power of words. It's amazing.
Even though I write, creativity hasn't always been my best friend. Especially when it comes to visual arts. Drawing a moon, a couple of stars, and a smiley face, are as creative as I get. Hopefully that all changes with this class. I really like art and artists. They're super cool people.
Music! I love music. All types actually. Some genres more than others, it really just depends on what I feel like listening. I like keeping my iPod on shuffle. I use to play the cello and violin. I was in the Rhode Island Phillarmonic Youth Orchestra a long time ago. I had to stop playing for a couple of reasons. I hope to get back to that. One thing that stayed was my voice. From the moment I wake up to the moment when I finally go to sleep, I am always singing. I love it. I hope to record professionally one day and have my own album. Anything is possible if I try. And believe me, I am trying.

Well, this is a lot of writing for one post. Here's what I should have done from the beginning:
If you really want to know what goes on in my head, who I am, follow me on twitter: simplybeingamy .
My tweets reflect who I am. Sometimes they can be very random, other times, serious, other times thoughtful, and sometimes, well, you can put the title or category on them. If you find one.

SIMPLYBEINGAMY  and stay tuned! Check in on my BLOG every now and then, and see what I might POST next time. And what length! Hahaha (probably not that funny to you) :] .

LET THE POSTINGS OF ART AND WHATEVER ELSE BEGIN! =)

Stay fresh.

Simply Being Amy

Beautiful and wonderful people of this world, Hello :)
Hi guys, as you can probably see when clicking on my blog, my name is indeed Amy. Amy Herrera. I am a student at Hope Arts High School in Providence, Rhode Island. It's a very good school, and has amazing teachers who can only influence you in a positive way. But let's move on to other things that don't require the basic information you can get by simply looking at my blog.
Soooooooo, about this thing....
This blog was made for the purpose of my Digital Media Class. What I'm most excited about, is posting up the art work I will be working on in class. My first project will be a magazine cover. Sounds simple right? We'll see...
I believe art is a very important influence in the world we live in. We are always surrounded by art; whether it be music, paintings, photos, live theater, poetry, words, anything that can pretty much inspire you to create.
Today's assignment was to write a little about who I am. Because I didn't really do a good job, I guess that'll just have to wait for another post. I'm sorry Ms. Weigand; my mind likes to wander off to other thoughts. But on the bright side, now you know the reason for this.
Stay Cool.
