One Of The Cool Teachers' Were Out
Ms. Weigand was not here today in my Digital Media class =(
That is all I have to say today.
1) Subject-verb agreement. "Were" is a plural verb, which means you use it with a plural subject. You wouldn't say, "I were." you would say, "They were." ONE of the cool teachers is singular because the subject of that sentence is ONE, even though the word before it (teachers) is plural. Try it with just "one": one (was/were) gone. Which would you choose?
(I'm grilling you on this one because it's one that comes up in the SATs a lot.)
2) "Teachers" has an apostrophe at the end. Like it owns something. What does it own? Nothin. Get rid of it.
Know that I love you no matter what, but SATs are right around the corner, so you gotta learn this stuff.
so sorry! cass had a doctor's appointment, but i'm back now!
ReplyDeleteI know that was such a sad day :'(
ReplyDeleteSo . . . your title is full of grammatical errors. Can you figure out what they are?
